SAUTGC Newsletter, Issue 3
Welcome to 2018
Whatever your opinion of 2017, there’s no denying that for St Andrews things have gone pretty well! Gymnastics has seen a huge uptake, and we’ve done better than ever in SSS competitions. All that, and we’ve been working behind the scenes on a new website, as well as fine tuning the constitution. Read on to find out more about what we’ve been up to…
Competitions
In just the first half of this year we almost beat our total medal count from the entirety of last year! This is thanks to the hard work of all of our existing members, and all of our new ones (having the Scottish National Champion as a member of our club helps also).
There were 3 competitions this Semester – SSS Leagues 1 & 2, and Formers for Gymnastics. We managed to bring more people to competitions than in recent history, and are currently leading SSS with a massive 12 points.
League 1: Well done to all 18 people who competed at in Stirling, and especially to
Bronze – Ruth Wright (Elite Ladies)
Silver – Ruth Wright (Level 1 Tumbling), Gavin Sandford (Novice Men), Daphne Bogosian (Novice Ladies), Emily Longtin (Intermediate Ladies), Matt Nutter (Advanced Men), Alex Lednicky (Elite Ladies)
Gold – Sophie Tyler (Novice Ladies), Iona Chisholm (Advanced Ladies), Murray Findlay (Pro-Elite Men), Ruth Iona Alex Murray (Team)

Formers: This year has seen a massive uptake in Gymnastics. We managed to take 7 people to Formers
Silver – Jamie Nicholas (Beginners Tumbling, Beginners Trampoline), Matt Nutter (Formers Trampoline, Beginner Men’s Artistic Gymnastics)
Gold – Halle Nelson (Formers Trampoline), Saffiyah Mengrani (Beginners Tumbling), Matt Nutter (Beginners Tumbling)

League 2: To finish off the year we went to Dundee for League 2 with 17 competitors.
Bronze – Laura Gillet (Intermediate Ladies)
Silver – Jamie Nicholas (Novice Men), Mark Bailey (Intermediate Men), Matt Nutter (Advanced Men)
Gold – Saffiyah + Sophie (Level 1 Synchro), Laurie Smith (Intermediate Ladies), Murray Findlay (Pro-Elite Men), Murray Ruth Laura Laurie (Team)

Preseason & Freshers
The year started off with some pre-season training both in St Andrews and McTaggart, followed by the largest give-it-a-go sessions for Trampoline and Gymnastics that we have ever seen. The hall was packed on both events, leading to over 50 club members this year!
Socials
A big part of the club remains the social aspect, with the club participating and holding lots of social events, from League socials, bowling, team building games, to sinners. We also had members of the club attend Gymnastics Training weekend in Edinburgh.
Other news
Keep an eye out for updates on our alumni events this year! We are always looking for Sponsorship, so if you think that you are able to help with that, please do get in contact with us as trampoline@saints-sports.com. There is lots that we want to do as a club, and we want to improve on all the good things we’ve done this last year – especially buying new equipment for Gymnastics
